Basset Griffon Vendeen (Petit)
Character and temperament
Love the outdoors and have boundless energy. Basset Griffon Vendeens are energetic and independent dogs, they can be a little stubborn and require firm consistent training, but will remain willing and keen to please. They are not aggressive, but they are very vocal. They will break out of an enclosure to follow a scent. Not advisable with children purely because of the potential to disrupt a constant training programe, if a constant socialising, training and exercise routine is in place there should be no problem.
Rough coat with a weather proof undercoat. Characteristic eyebrows, beard and moustache.
Basset Griffon Vendeens require an adequate diet up to the age of one. From then on, they are relatively easy to feed.
2 hours a day, they are very energetic dogs and do not stay still for long. They love hunting.
Brushing and general grooming about once a week. The area around the mouth needs to kept clean.
