Character and temperament

English Setters are intelligent, however their training needs to be consistent and start early as they can be very independant. They are good natured dogs that get on very well with children and other animals.

General description

English Setters have long, flat, silky coats which can be many colours. They are graceful and elegant.

Food

No special requirements.

Exercise

2 hours a day. They have a lot of energy, and a tendency to wander.

Grooming

English Setters need to be trimmed around their pads and ears regularly and brushed well once a week to keep their coats silky smooth.

Other information

They are known to have been used as bird dogs in the 16th century.
